VIBE music magazine front cover analysis

The image above is of the music magazine VIBE. This is one of the most notorious magazines featuring the R&B genre so I chose to analyse it as I believe it will enable me to have a clear idea of what I want my music magazine to look like. The front page consists of a orange and white colour theme. The image features Nicki minaj wearing a white and silver dress-which is plain like the background. Then with orange/red hair which links to the orange writing and masthead VIBE. There is some black writing used, this is to stand out against the white background. The main cover line reads Nicki Minaj notorious K.I.N.G. This is linked to the main image of the discussed artists Nicki Minaj. There is typical features on the front cover like bar code, price and date which you would expect from any magazine. The strap line reads PURPLE SUITS, WHITE KICKS AND A $30K DRESS. I believe this relates quite well to the R&B style genre as it represents expense and luxury It has specialised language 'kicks' This suggests that it may be aimed at a more youthful genre due to its language. The use of the jewellery and tiara suggest expense which is also suggested in the strapline. There is use of other cover lines that give some further insight to what may be included in the magazine.
