The logo features the ballista or trébuchet which was the heraldic device of the Maghull family. It is understood to have been awarded to the family in recognition of service during the Hundred Years' War. It was chose to signify "aiming high" and overcoming difficlty. The leaping chamois is a creature swift and sure of foot and symbolises rapid but secure progress. The interlocking design signifies that the school is co-educational. The masthead and background is white red and blue which is displayed throughout. This overall portrays the school as a academic, ambitious school.
There is secondary text below it which reads 'The deyes of our life' this is a play on the word 'deyes' which suggestst the article may be more lighthearted and welcomming. There is is boxes along side coloured light blue, dark blue and red. This reinforces the colour scheme of Deyes high school. The secondary text below the masthead is a bright yellow which instantly grabs the readers attention whichindicates it may be of importance.
There is not much imagery on the first page and is dominated mostly by black text under the text 'A message from the head' I would regard this as slightly overpowering for a newsletter as it can put a reader off by seeing too much textm I would personally use more imagery in my magazine to instantly attract the reader.
Throughout the text they are discussing governer issues, weather issue, and upcoming events e.g half term, trips etc. There is also, a phrase at the bottom which states "Sixth from at deyes number one for post 16 education" This would suggest to me that this newsletter may be targeted at parents of an older age as; students, especially from a yr7 upto yr 11 boundary would take no enjoyment in disucssing such academically challeging issues.
The second page opens with a small masthead of about 1 mm long lenghtwise, 'More from the head' This shows continuation from the first page as it relats back to the same title. There is a lack in colour as it is black text on a background, with a blue textbox containing yellow writing at the top.
The third page contains a balance of diagrams and text. The diagrams consists of two graphs relating too a revisional tip regarding the numeric field of mathematics. This questions whether the audience is maybe targeted towards students aswell? The colour scheme is continued containing a blue box, outlined in red with the wrighting still yellow to stand out. The imagery used at the top is a cartoonised picture of a boy holding a trphy reading, 'congrats' at the top in gold. This is in relation to the text next to it that discusses the attendance for different years.
The third page continues with the masthead 'My vision for the dance department' which is shown in a blue box, outlined with red and containing yellow writing which is shown in every slide. This page is all about dance which is one of the courses avaiable to take from year 9 onwards at Deyes high school. There is black text used throughout on a white background which agsin may seem uninteresting to any reader, however, there is use of imagery of dancers at the top that are shown in different shapes to differenciate each one.
The fourth page is continued from the third and is again all about dance which is shown in the masthead containing the same colour scheme 'My vision for the apartment' The text is ordered in bullet points which give it mroe structure and breaks it up more. There is two images portrayed on the right hand top corner, and the bottom left hand corner. Both are in oval shapes and again are derived form the field of dance. The text remains the same colour of black on a white background.
The sixth page iis sepearted into 3 text boxes. All contain the same colour scheme of the blue, red and yellow masthead and white text on the black background. The first masthead reads 'Music and the electric concert' which contains some further information about below. The second reads 'Pancakes' with further information on the subject below. And the final text box reads 'Healthy packed lunches' and further information in it below. There is use of imagery in the bottow corner of a sandwhich and a apple, to reinforce the discussed topic next to it.
The 7th slide opens with the masthead 'Healthy eating' in the same blue, red and yellow theme. The majority of the text is bullet pointed therefore represents some order and structure to the text. There is imagery displayed of a healthy packed lucnh, and then another cartoonised version at the bottom, this is shown as it is relative to the spoken topic.
The 8th and 9th slide contains imagery of the we will rock you concert. I am aware of this as the masthead reads "We will rock you" in the same blue, red and yellow colour scheme. There is a lot of features of colour shown ithrough the pictures which will immediately grab the readers attention. The images have a proffessional element to them which suggets they have been taken by somone qualified from the school.
The 10th sldie reads 'Hair raising time for Lauren' in the masthead with the same blue red and yellow colour scheme. There is 3 sets of imagery displayed of a girl getting her hair cut; One before, one in the process and one after. The atricle is about this girl who donated her hair to her chosen charity research in order to make wigs for cnacer patients. This suggests that the school's pupils are extremelly generous and charitable and gives people who may be considering Deyes a chance to see what kinf of colleagues they will be amongst.
The 11th slide contains a lot of black text on a white background. It does state information for parents which suggests that this slide particularry is just for parental knowledge. It is very offputting at first as it contains a lot of writing with what seems no break up of text.
The final slide contains the masthead 'Thought of the day' in the same, blue, red and yellow masthead. I can suggest this would be a page that is featured at the back of every newsletter therefore follows the typical graphology of the others. This article conatins an image of a thumprint which represents what the article is talking about and that is individuality. The article then goes onto discuss eating disorders. This shows that the school is very helpful and understanding of ideas like this that are very common. This says a lot about the schools eagerness to help every person in thier school with whatever problems they require help with. The colour scheme is a blue to faded white on the first box, and then a light blue on the bottom slide, this reinforces the colour scheme of Deyes high school again.
